The Rise and Fall of Bam Margera

Bam Margera’s rise to stardom was quick. His amazing style combined with the ability to learn new tricks with the greatest of ease put him on many fans and sponsors radar. Bam experienced more than his share of injuries in his early skate career. This combined with his rise to fame in television and what some people might call “A drinking problem,” took him out of the skate scene earlier than most skate fans would’ve preferred.

In the early 2000s, Bam Margera was able to land incomparable tricks. He used to have companies run after him for sponsorship deals and he was a significant member of Team Element. Some of Bam’s former sponsors were Speed Metal Bearings, Adio Footwear, Electric Sunglasses, Volcom, Landspeed Wheels, Destroyer Trucks, Destructo Trucks, and Fairman’s Skateshop

Bam was also one of the first skateboarders to penetrate the mainstream media with his string of TV shows and movies. The demands of hosting his own television show Jackass and Viva La Bam meant that his skateboarding career had to take a backseat. Bam explains, “MTV was first priority and so was Jackass. You know, my 5 hours of skating a day disappeared. When you’re filming TV stuff all day and there’s 40 people there getting paid to film you, my skating turned into 2 hours a day, then 1 hour a day, then for a while it was no hours a day.”

Bam Margera could no longer land his skateboarding tricks due to bone spurs in his feet. Eventually, he also lost his sponsorship contracts and he is no longer part of any skateboarding team.

Bam Margera: Skateboarding Once Again

However, he is back on his board again after taking a break for five years. Bam also expressed his wish to film a part for Element’s Silver Anniversary. This time he is not putting any pressure on himself. He may be filming some skateboarding parts, but he has accepted that his age and his skateboarding hiatus will cause him to struggle.

It seems like Bam Margera is back on board, literally and figuratively!
